Well the 10 day tour of Sicily is over and I caught a cold from one of the guests on the tour bus. It spread like wildfire so a lot of people fell ill by the end. I took these 2 days in Giardini Naxos to rest and get better as I still have other adventures planned. Luckily, I had already extended my stay at the hotel for 3 nights. Giardini Naxos is a resort town located on the Ionian Sea in Eastern Sicily.

I am staying at a beautiful hotel with a private beach so I am ending my stay in Sicily like I began it in Calabria: On the deserted beach, soaking up the sun and listening to the waves of the Ionian sea. The beach was made up of tiny pebbles instead of sand but you could still walk comfortably on it. It was a nice relaxing couple of days before I make my way to Taormina.

I did go for a walk along the boardwalk and explored the seaside town of Naxos. It reminded me a lot of Soverato. I ended the day having dinner with a new friend I made on the tour. I had parmegiana pizza (eggplant, prosciutto cotto and egg). It was a first and it was delicious!
